Edward L. Bowden

Edward L. Bowden, 86, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away on September 16, 2017 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onley, VA.

He was born on Chincoteague Island, VA on August 1, 1931 to the late Paul and Roie (Birch) Bowden.

He owned and operated Bowden trucking alongside of his father, Paul. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be dearly missed. He loved to garden and take care of his animals especially Sparky.

Edward is survived by his loving spouse of 64 years, Margaret Bowden of Chincoteague Island, VA, Daughter, Sharon Ellis and her husband Grady of New Church, VA; Granddaughter, Jan Merritt and her fiance Paul Chamberland of Pocomoke City, MD; Two Great-grandsons, Paul Chamberland of Pocomoke City, MD, Joshua Chamberland of Pocomoke City, MD; Two Brothers, Tucker Bowden and his wife Ethel of Pocomoke City, MD, Larry Bowden of Chincoteague Island, VA; Sister, Shirley Scarborough of Chincoteague Island, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, 2:00 pm with a viewing a hour prior from 1 to 2 PM at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, with Rev. Kevin Eley, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Daisey Cemetery on Church Street on Chincoteague Island, VA.
