James Chris Floyd

James Chris Floyd, 85, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away on November 6, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Danville, GA on November 2, 1933 to the late Ernest and Minnie (Grimsley) Floyd. Chris worked his way through and was enrolled and graduated from the Berry School and Berry College in Rome, GA with a masters in social science. After graduation he taught school for several years then entered the Army for four years, three of which were served in Germany. After the army in 1961, he worked for the Civil Service Commission in Atlanta, GA as an investigator. In 1963 he accepted a position to work at NASA and retired from there in 1995.

He was a member of American Legion Post # 159, Army Counter Intelligence Veterans (ACICV) and National Counter Intelligence Corp Association (NCICA).

Chris is survived by his loving spouse of 53 years, Darlene Floyd, Daughter Sharon Johnson and her husband Dino, Granddaughter Jessica Richardson, Grandson Derek Richardson, two great grandsons Aiden and Jack Richardson, all of Chincoteague Island, VA and several dear nieces and nephews in GA. .

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, 2:00 pm with a viewing an hour before at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, with Rev. Kevin Eley, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Daisey Cemetery Church Street Chincoteague Island, VA.
