Marie Louise Purdy

Marie Louise Purdy, 90, of Wallops Island, VA passed away on October 8, 2017 at her residence.

She was born on Chincoteague Island, VA on April 21, 1927 to the late Jaime Atkinson and Thelma (Beauchamp) Birch.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Friendship Bible Class, and lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary of Post #159 of the American Legion.

Marie is survived by her son, Craig Purdy and his wife Carol of Pocomoke City, MD; daughter, Linda Wright and her husband Ricky of Wallops Island, VA; three grandsons, Christopher Purdy and his wife Renee and their three girls, Gabby, Kenzie, and Emme all of Pocomoke City, MD, Logan Wright and his wife Mallory of Greenbackville, VA, Travis Purdy of Las Vegas, NV; Two Granddaughters, Carla Makinen and her husband Erik and their three sons, Landon, Layton, and Callan all of Stockton, MD, Kellie Collins and her husband Chris of Chesapeake, VA; and her special dog, Skippy.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jaime Atkinson, mother, Thelma Birch, son, Brian Purdy, and husband of 43 years, Leroy Purdy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 11:00 am at the Christ United Methodist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, with Pastor Joe Carson, officiating.

Private family burial will take place at the John W Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville, VA.
