Thomas Saxon Klinger,78, of Chincoteague Island, VA. passed away on June 25, 2018 at Aurora Senior Living of Manokin in Princess Anne, MD.
Thomas was born in Savannah, GA on December 1, 1939 to the late Thomas Sylvester and Margaret (Lott) Klinger.
Capt. Klinger served both in the Navy and Air Force during the Vietnam years, and was awarded a combat medal. For his military service he will receive a Presidential
Memorial Certificate from the President. After his time in the military, he went on
to sail with the Merchant Marines, which took him all over the world. Before retirement he taught at The MEBA Engineering School, in St. Micheals,Md. After retirement, he owned and operated a construction
business with his son Jon, in the Alexandria VA. area.
In 2004, he and his wife Patricia relocated to the Eastern Shore of VA. and eventually to Chincoteague Island. Thomas was an avid reader and also enjoyed his
hobby of photography. Tom was a Shiner and a member of the Coat Lodge #102 York Rite in Easton, MD.
Thomas is survived by his loving spouse of 28 years Patricia Ann Klinger of Chincoteague Island; three sons Jon D. Beauchamp of Stafford VA., Christopher Frei of Cal; Mark Yarbrough of Savannah, GA; three daughters Renee Baldwin and her husband Eugene of Haymarket VA; Gwyn Miller of Eden MD; Kelly Orvick of Lodi,Cal; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sylvester Klinger, mother Margaret Lott Klinger, and son that passed at birth.
Graveside service will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CVFC Ambulance Fund PO Box 691 Chincoteague VA. 23336 or VA 23410 or Eastern Shore SPCA 26528 Lankford Highway Melfa, VA.
