Mr. Alan Charles Matz, 58, of Chincoteague Island, VA. passed away Wednesday, August 11th, 2010 while in the company of family members at his residence.
Alan was born in Reading, PA on July 16, 1952, the son of the late Kenneth C. and Betty (Didyoung) Stoudt and her husband Jack of Reading, PA.
He served in the U.S. Navy for over twenty years.
He worked as an Engineer for Aegis at Wallops Island, VA. He was a member of Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, Accomack Lodge #243, Central Lodge #300, Island Commandery #34, Knights Templer, Ducks Unlimited, and American Legion Post #159.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl Lundgren Matz of Chincoteague, VA; one daughter Ileta Reed and her husband Matthew; one son Anthony Wickline of Fairfax, VA; two grandchildren Krista and Kent Reed of Chincoteague, VA; brother Kenny Matz and his wife Sandy of Reading, PA; two sisters Marleise Matz of Reading, PA, Corinne Hersh and her husband Richard of Reading, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague, VA, at 2 PM on Saturday, August 14th, with a visitation a hour before service from 1-2 PM and a Masonic lodge service at 2 PM.
Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 9 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Eastern Shore 165 Market Street Onancock, VA 23417.
