Alexander Hubb, 77, of Chincoteague Island VA, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born on May 30, 1945 in the Salvation Army Home and Hospital for Unwed Mothers in Philadelphia, he was adopted by William and Mildred Hubb and lived in Doylestown, PA. He graduated in 1963 from Central Bucks High School and then received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Rider University.
He married the love of his life Kathleen Marie Peyser on their joint birthday of May 30, 1967. Surviving him other than his wife Kathy are his children: Randy, wife Heather, daughters Mackenzie and Samantha of York, PA; Rick, wife Melissa, children Kathy, Ruth, and Alec of Chincoteague VA; Gary, wife Cristina, and grandchild on the way of Los Angeles, CA, and Lexi and husband Justin of Chincoteague, VA. Alex and family lived in York, PA where he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an agent for 32 years before retiring to Chincoteague in 2011. Alex remained very busy as he became involved with the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance. In 2014, he took on the small local farmers market when it moved to the CCA field. Forever the salesman, Alex enjoyed recruiting new vendors and artists, building relationships with loyal vendors, and advocating for small business and local musicians. The number of vendors exploded over the last two years when the Chincoteague Island Farmers and Artisans Market was established. Alex’s greatest joy while serving as Market Manager was promoting the market and the musicians who played there.
Thank you to the CCA and Chincoteague community for their kindness and generosity bestowed to the Hubb family over the past year.
A celebration of life will take place on Friday, December 2 at Salyer Funeral Home from 5-7 PM, the sharing of memories at 6 PM.
