Mr. Allan D. Bowden, 62, of Chincoteague Island, VA., passed away at home on Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 with his family at his side.
Allan was born in Salisbury, Maryland on May 15, 1947, the son of Nancy (Watson) Williams and the late Robert N. Bowden.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church Chincoteague Island, VA, Accomack Lodge #243, Royal Arch, Order of Eastern Star #62, and the Ready Sunday School Class of Union Baptist Church.
He worked as a Parts Manager for Tyson Foods, Inc. for almost forty years. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank of sergeant.
Allan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Johnson Bowden ; a daughter, Denise P. Bowden; his mother Nancy Williams all of Chincoteague Island, VA.
He is also survived by sister-in-law Billie Ann Bowden of Chincoteague, VA; Two Brother-In-Laws Alfred "Dino" Johnson of Chincoteague, VA and Mike Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA; special friends Mike and Linda McGee of Chincoteague, VA; special grandson Dog Tippy; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Robert N. Bowden, step father Skeet Williams,and brother Robert Jack Bowden Sr.
Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Sunday, May 24th, with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
Friends and family are invited to call Saturday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. with a Lodge Service at 7:30 PM.
Interment will be held in the Daisey Cemetery Chincoteague, VA.
