Allen F. Barr Jr., 56, of Chincoteague Island, VA suddenly went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 5th, in Richmond, VA.
Allen was born in Nassawadox, VA on July 26, 1954, the son of the late Barbara (McGee) Clark and Allen Francis Barr, Sr.
He was a member of Church of God Chincoteague Island, VA and American Legion Post #159.
He worked as a Lead Carpenter for VT Griffin on Wallops Island, VA. He owned and operated Allen F. Barr Construction on Chincoteague Island under his class A license. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines as a Sgt.
He leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Penny White Barr of Chincoteague Island, VA; two children, Tiffany Barr Stevens and her husband Jeffery F. of Chincoteague Island, VA, Ryan Allen Barr of Chincoteague Island, VA; two grandchildren, Jeffery and Christian Stevens both of Chincoteague Island, VA; three brothers ,Robert Barr and his wife Carol of Salisbury, MD, Richard Barr and his wife Roxy of Salisbury, MD, Russell Hill and his wife Victoria of Salisbury, MD; three sisters, Joan Carol Betts of Chincoteague Island,VA Pam Foley and her husband Jim of Port Carbon, PA, Toni Clark of Chincoteague Island, VA; stepfather, Clarence Clark of Chincoteague Island, VA; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ernest and Connie White of Chincoteague Island, VA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends are invited to call Monday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague Island, VA.
Funeral Service will be held at Chincoteague Church of God, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Tuesday, May 10th, with Rev. John Thorne and Rev. Raymond Crowley officiating.
Interment will be in Thornton Cemetery, Chincoteague Island, VA.
