Bonnie Sue Barrett, 86, of Chincoteague Island, VA, passed into the arms of her loving Savior on January 22, 2025, surrounded and cared for by her devoted family in her residence. She was born on July 9, 1938, to Mildred and Arthur Hopkins on Chincoteague Island, VA. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church. She worked with the proprietors of Beachway Seafood Restaurant and then Tom’s Cove Campground alongside many treasured friends for over 30 years. Bonnie is survived by her beloved son Bill Barrett and wife Pam of Chincoteague, VA; Four granddaughters, Julie Green and her husband James of GA, Rachel Trayer and husband Kyle Trayer of GA; Kara Hess and her husband Eric of PA, and Angela Hess and her husband Ethan Hess of GA; Sister-in-love Connie Kay White of Chincoteague Island, VA; and several cherished nieces and nephews. She is also survived and will be terribly missed by nine great-grandchildren she adored: Shannon, Liana, Eli, and Logan Green; Liam and Isobel Trayer; Charlie Hess, Elouisa, and Judah Hess. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, sister Jean, and loving spouse of 69 years, Calvin Barrett. Funeral Services will be held on January 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague, VA, with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Burial will take place in the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville, VA. Services entrusted to Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. on Chincoteague Island, VA
