Carolyn L. Muehlhause, 88, of Chincoteague Island, VA, wife of the late Carl O. Muehlhause. passed away Sunday, September 25th, at her residence.
Carolyn was born in Washington, D.C. on May 12, 1923, a daughter of the late Mildred (McClintock) and George Lyon.
She was a teacher of English at George Washington University and Walter Johnson High School. She obtained a B.S. Degree from George Washington University and a Masters Degree from Columbia University. She went on to earn 30 credit hours towards her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. She moved to Chincoteague in 1978. She was the author of a novel entitled, Kalorama, available at Sundial Book Store and at the Chincoteague Library.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam Cleary and her husband John of Worton, MD; a son Carl G. Muehlhause of Salisbury, MD; a grandson Chris Garside of Baltimore, MD; and great grandson Jeremiah Garside of Easton, MD.
Services are private at the convenience of family.
