Cecile Carey Watson of Chincoteague Island, Virginia found eternal peace in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on July 10, 2023. Cecile was born in Crisfield, Maryland on March 18, 1939, to Leanora and John Carey.
Cecile was a loving wife to the late Frank Watson of Chincoteague for 58 wonderful years. Together, they raised a family of four surviving children: Larry Watson (Jackie) of Codorus, PA, Ken Watson (Beverly) of Chincoteague, Regena Haugh (Herb) of New Church, and John Watson (Connie) of Snow Hill. Cecile is also survived by a sister, Barbara Underwood of Salisbury, MD, a brother, Johnny Carey of Crisfield, MD; five grandchildren, Sandy Reynolds (Chad) of Glenville, PA, Matthew Watson (Ashton) of Chincoteague, Bryan Haugh (Sarah) of Mooresville, NC, Morgan Blaszkow (Joe) of Berlin, MD, and Nicole Watson of Snow Hill, MD; and five great-grandchildren, Selina Reynolds, Chase Haugh, Hallie Blaszkow, Emma Blaszkow, and Noah Watson. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, their infant child Frank Watson Jr., and two young granddaughters Michelle Watson and Kendra Watson.
Caring deeply for her family, neighbors, and community, Cecile selflessly devoted much of her life to providing childcare for a number of Island children. She typically began with the necessary early care for tiny newborn infants and nurtured them throughout their early childhood years.
In addition to needlework, reading, and word search puzzles, Cecile and her late husband Frank enjoyed vacationing in the Blue Ridge Mountains, vegetable and flower gardening, beach combing and sharing the love of a number of adorable pint-sized pups. Most importantly, they walked through life together with tireless faith in God, building a Christian home with a door open to anyone in need.
A dedicated member of Christ United Methodist Church of Chincoteague, Cecile was also a loyal contributor to local school, first responder, and community fundraising efforts.
A funeral service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Chincoteague on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
