In Memory of Charles Edward Priebe
February 2, 1962 - October 15, 2024
Charles Edward Priebe (“Chuck”), age 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Atlantic, Virginia, on October 15, 2024, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Chuck was raised in Erwin, North Carolina and lived there until 1980 when he left to serve in the United States Navy. In 1988, while serving in the Navy, he met his wife Terri on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. They were married later that year and had their first son, Matthew, in 1989. In 1991, Chuck and Terri decided to make Atlantic their permanent home. Two years later, Chuck was honorably discharged from the Navy after 13 years of service and began serving his country in a civilian capacity. Chuck and Terri had their second son, Nicholas, in 1998.
Chuck was a dedicated father, husband, and patriot who devoted his life to his family, community, and country. Chuck was ever-present in his son’s lives and loved coaching their baseball and soccer teams. He was a loving husband to Terri for thirty-six years. He was deeply involved in his community and could often be found at the ball fields of North Accomack Little League, Holly Grove Christian School, or with a friend, neighbor, or stranger who was in need of help. Chuck was also well-known and respected on base. After leaving active service in the Navy, he worked his way up to supervisory and management roles in the Department of the Navy in a civilian capacity. There, he made lifelong friends, mentored many people, and devoted his life to protecting the United States.
Chuck will be sorely missed. He was a hero to his wife and children. A loving and supportive brother to his siblings. A loyal son to his parents. A great friend to many. He was a man of faith who found happiness in helping others.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Christ United Methodist Church on Chincoteague Island, VA.
