Christopher Bruce Corbin, born on December 1st, 1962, to Emma Alvord Lasche and Bruce Corbin, passed away unexpectedly on April 7th at 61 years old in Chincoteague, VA. He was the youngest of their four children.
Raised in Exmore, Chris moved to Chincoteague when he was a teenager. It was there that he married Renee Bowden in 1981 and joined the United States Army as an Engineer. He retired early in 1995 as a decorated soldier with several overseas tours, placement in Ft. Stewart, GA, and having served in Desert Storm. After his time in the Army, he moved with his family to Salisbury, MD, and used his skills to work in concrete and construction.
Chris always had a love for animals, especially dogs. He often brought home a stray with the promise of “only until we find them a home.” He was a private and complex man. He took pride in his work and was highly intelligent, bringing a lot of skill to his trade. He enjoyed listening to music, which was often his way to connect with others, including his children. He enjoyed the outdoors and even tried his hand at gardening. He returned to Chincoteague several years ago, where he lived until his passing.
Chris is survived by two daughters, Christina Washington of Salisbury, MD, and Casey Corbin Froidcoeur of Mardela Springs, as well as four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters Leah Fisher of Virginia and Lisa Lowe of Texas. He also has several nieces, nephews, and extended family including the Hill’s of Chincoteague. Not to mention Grand pups and kitties.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his Stepfather Robert Lasche, his daughter Sandra Corbin, his sister Mea Corbin, and his brother Harry Corbin. As well as special extended family members Barbara Bowden, Donna Church, and Caleb Schmitt.
To reference one of his favorite songs:
“Oh, sing with me, this mournful dub
Sing with me, sing for a year
Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear
Sing with me, if it’s just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord take me away”
