Willie Cleo Boothe, 83, of Chincoteague Island, Virginia, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland on October 14, 2024. She was born in Alabama on July 27, 1941, to the late James Jackson and Willie (Williams) Baty.
Cleo was a dedicated, hard-working employee who worked as a Fairfax County Public Schools bus driver for many years. She then changed career paths, which eventually led to her opening new and supporting existing community senior centers in Fairfax County. As a Senior Director of the Devonshire Senior Community Center, she provided much-needed support and activities for the senior community. She was adored by the members for her compassion, commitment, and devotion to the seniors over the many years until her retirement. Upon retirement, she relocated to Chincoteague Island to be close to family and loved the island and its residents. She was devoted to family and love of friends and a member of Union Baptist Church on Chincoteague Island, Virginia.
Cleo is survived by her five loving children: sons Robert Boothe Jr. and his wife (Tracy), David Boothe and his wife (Maria), Joey Pruitt and his wife (Kay), daughters Rhonda Williams and her husband (Gary), Teresa Hall, and Lee Ross. She cherished her nephews, nieces, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert C Boothe, Sr., and sister, Jackie Sands.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11 AM at the Downing Cemetery, Oak Hall, Virginia, with Reverend Kevin Eley officiating.
