Constance "Connie" Salyer Bailey

Constance "Connie" Salyer Bailey, 73, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away on December 6, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born in Nassawadox, VA on January 9, 1947 to the late William Blaine and Leone (Skidmore) Salyer.

She was a member of Union Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star #62 on Chincoteague Island, VA . Connie followed her parents in the family business of owning and operating Salyer Funeral Home where her kindness and compassion touched the hearts of many during her career. She was also an Honorary Member of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company and was a fixture in the ticket booth for many years delighting the hearts of young and old alike just by flashing her big smile to anxious carnival goers.

Connie is survived by her four daughters, Tabbi Walker and her husband Scotty of New Church, VA, Cindy Shaffer of Virginia Beach, VA, Vicky Furness and her husband Steve of Parksley, VA, Mandy Betts and her husband Ricky of Chincoteague Island, VA; five grandsons, Jacob Shaffer of Virginia Beach, VA, Derek Clark of Parksley, VA, Luke Betts of Chincoteague Island, VA, Trenton Clark of Parksley, VA, Seth Walker of New Church, VA; granddaughter, Ashley Betts of Chincoteague Island, VA; brother, Donnie Dunn of Chincoteague Island, VA; special caregiver, Rhonda Green of Chincoteague Island, VA; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brooks Nevitt Bailey and first husband, Vince Conder.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague Island, VA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, 2:00 pm at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, with Rev. Kevin Eley, officiating.

Burial will take place in the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville, VA.
