It is with deep sorrow but faith in God’s plan that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Diane Royall, on August 29, 2025. She was a woman of faith, love, and kindness, always putting her family and others before herself.
Diane was born on April 15th, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, and lived a fulfilling life dedicated to serving God, her family, and her community. She found joy in her many church ministries, Sunday dinners, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her favorite pastime was attending her grandchildren's soccer, volleyball, and softball games, as well as holding endless conversations about God and her faith.
She worked on Wall Street and was a nursery school teacher, but her most rewarding job was being a stay-at-home mom.
She also devoted her time to running many different ministries within her church . As an Eucharistic minister, she traveled to local nursing homes to pray with the sick and elderly. She created and ran a centering prayer group, volunteered to drive parishioners to their doctors ' appointments, and did endless errands. She was part of the prayer Shawl committee and served as leader of the rosary ministry. She organized the prayer ministry and yearly craft fairs for the church, and sang in her choir. She lived her life with complete and utter devotion to God, our Father, Jesus, our brother, and Mary, our Mother.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Royall, her son, Jeffrey Royall, her grandchildren, Aeva and Gracie, and her many nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with her husband, Thomas J. Royall, her parents, Buddy and Ethel Guerra, as well as her sisters, Doreen Guerra and Marion Devine.
A funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Church in Chincoteague, Virginia, on September 6th, 2025, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
Services entrusted to Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., on Chincoteague Island, VA. Condolences may be made online at www.salyerfh.com
