Mr. Donald Bloxom, age 76, of Obion, passed from this life on Monday, June 17, 2024. Funeral services will be at 02:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Obion. Visitation for friends will be from 05:00 PM until 08:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, at the church. Bro. Archie Larry will officiate with burial to follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Obion. Pallbearers will be Christian Bloxom, Carter Bloxom, Caleb Bloxom, Blake Bloxom, Tyler Wilbanks and Timbo Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Evans, Richard Pollock, John Board, and Jerry Carver. “Pop Pop,” as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was born in Chincoteague, Virginia, on April 10, 1948, the son of the late Howard and Margaret (Williams) Bloxom. He was a retired relief employee for the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City and a Baptist. He and his wife were honorary members of the Chincoteague, VA, fire department and were also involved in the Obion and Dyer County Rescue Squads. He was the former Obion Fire Chief. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha (Walton) Bloxom of Obion; a son, Heath and wife, Wendy Bloxom of Obion; a brother, Paul David Bloxom of Chincoteague, VA; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and four bonus great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Donald William “Poodle” Bloxom, on February 24, 2013, three brothers, Wesley Bloxom, Howard Bloxom, and Harvey Bloxom, and two sisters, Louise “Sissy” Taylor, and Isabelle Gibby.
