Dorothy B. Thornton Casper, 71 resident of Floral City, Fl, formerly of Chincoteague, VA went to meet her Lord on December 25, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Herman W. and Mary Elizabeth Birch, also predeceased by her former husband, Keith E. Thornton Sr. and brothers Herman W. Birch Jr. and Steven C. Birch Jr.
She was a graduate of Chincoteague High School and Hicks Beauty Academy in Norfolk, VA. She worked at the Naval Air Station in VA and was the owner of Merle Normon Cosmetic Studios in Chincoteague and Onancock, VA. She was currently retired.
She was Past Worthy Matron of Accomack Chapter #62 Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary Post # 159, and the Eagles Club.
She is survived by her present husband, Thomas E. Casper, son, Keith E. Thornton Jr. and wife Laurie, step children, Cindy and Scott Woodcock, Carolyn and Randy Blizzard, Peggy and Gordon Wheeler, and T Edward and Chris Casper, brother, Kenneth W. Birch, sister, Lucille B, Gohl, two Granddaughters, Tiffany Patton and Jennie Eley, Eleven Step grandchildren, one great grandson, seventeen step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010, 2 PM at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. in Chincoteague, VA with the Rev. Travis DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in the Daisey Cemetery on Church Street in Chincoteague.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Eastern Shore 165 Market Street, Onancock, VA 23417 or Accomack Chapter #62 Eastern Star Scholarship Fund in her memory, Woodland Drive Chincoteague, VA 23336.
