Elizabeth Sawyer Brasure, 87 of Chincoteague, VA, passed away Friday, April 29th, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, MD.
Elizabeth was born in Plymouth, NC on December 4, 1923, daughter of the late Dr. O.W. Sawyer and Addie M. (Taylor) Sawyer.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church Chincoteague Island, VA, Daughters of Ruth Sunday School Class, Chancel Choir, Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 62, and Ladies Aid Quilters. She worked with the Vacation Bible School for many years. She worked along side of her husband, Harold for the Food Bank of Chincoteague. She took alot of pride in helping people on the shore and will be greatly missed.
She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years in Salisbury, MD and Chincoteague, VA.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Harold L. Brasure who passed away on September 11, 2010.
She is survived by a son Baxter Brasure and his wife Luann of Chincoteague, VA; grandson Chris Brasure and his wife Christy of Fruitland, MD; two great grandchildren Kylee Elizabeth Brasure and Caden Shane Brasure both of Fruitland, MD; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Friends are invited to call Sunday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. in Chincoteague, VA.
Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Monday, May 2nd, with Rev. Kevin Eley and Rev. William L. Gregory officiating.
Interment will be held at John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville, VA.
