Elizabeth Ann Thornton, 88, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family on December 3rd, 2021.
Ann, as she was known to everyone was born on May 5th, 1933, on Chincoteague Island to the late Harry and Madeline (Jester) Taylor. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a past member of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Besides her family, Ann’s passion in life was cooking. You could always find her in her kitchen making something delicious for family and friends and if she heard that anyone in the community was sick, you could count on her to be at your doorstep with her famous chicken salad in hand ready to comfort you. She also lent her cooking talents to Bill's Prime where she worked for many years as their prep cook.
Ann is survived by her son, Harry Stanley Thornton and his wife Karen; daughter, Linda Thornton; grandson, Kenny Thornton and his wife Vonnie; granddaughter, Valerie Brizak and her husband Mike; three great-grandsons, Reid Thornton, Noah Jagow and Cain Jagow and two great-granddaughters, Scarlett Brizak, and Maddie Parks all of Chincoteague Island, VA.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Eugene Thornton.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 6th, 2021, at 2:00pm at the Salyer Funeral Home, Inc on Chincoteague Island, VA with the Rev. Maurice Enright and Pastor Kevin Stanley officiating.
