Evans Derrickson

Evans Derrickson, 62, of Chincoteague Island, VA, passed away , Saturday, May 28, 2011 , at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, MD.
Evans was born in Salisbury, MD, on September 15, 1948, the son of Elizabeth Russell Derrickson of Chincoteague Island, VA and the late Grier Derrickson.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #243, Royal Arch #75, Knights Templar, and American Legion Post #159. He was a former Chief of Police for the Town of Chincoteague. He worked as a Security Guard for Sysco in Pocomoke, MD. He was also a devoted lifetime member of Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company.
He is also survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathie J. Derrickson of Chincoteague Island, Va; two children David Derrickson of Chincoteague Island, VA, Danielle Harris and her husband Matt of Montoursville, PA; two grandchildren Ethan and Lydia Harris both of Montoursville, PA; several nieces,nephews, and cousins.
Friends are invited to call Monday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. in Chincoteague Island, VA.
Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Tuesday, May 31st, with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
Interment will be held at Mechanics Cemetery, Chincoteague, VA.
