Mr. Harry Clay Bunting, Jr., 76, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away Saturday, April 24th, 2010 at his residence.
Harry Clay was born in Chincoteague, Virginia on March 12, 1934, the son of the late Harry C. and Mary (Andrews) Bunting.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church Chincoteague Island, VA , American Legion Post #159, and one of the original saltwater cowboys. He owned and operated Jones Brothers Seafood for over twenty-five years. He also owned and operated along with his wife, Bonnie, The Eastern Shoreman Restaurant in Pocomoke City for ten years. He was a lifetime member of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1952 - 1956. He was a graduate of Chincoteague High School, Class of 1952.
He was the husband of Bonnie Bunting of Chincoteague, VA.
He is survived by two daughters Denise Savage and her husband Jay of Chincoteague, Va., Ashley Bunting of Chincoteague, VA; two sons Clay Bunting and his wife Roxanne of OK, Chris Bunting of DE; one sister Ruth Williams of Chincoteague, VA; a brother Billy Ray Bunting and his wife Barbara of Chincoteague, VA; seven grandchildren, Lance Bunting of Wattsville, VA, Brittany Bunting of SC, Brooke Elliott and her husband Bandon of Temperanceville, VA, Jamie Bunting of OK, Bryant Savage of Chincoteague, VA, Skylar Bunting of DE, Trevor Bunting of DE; two great grandchildren Elijah and Ian Elliott of Temperanceville, VA; special nieces Patsy Savage of Chincoteague, VA, Brenda Bernstein of Hebron, MD, Teresa McCain of Salisbury, MD; special little buddy Izid Tountas of Chincoteague, VA; several nieces and nephews; and his special Greek family in Chincoteague.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc.
Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church in Chincoteague, Va. on April 28th at 2 PM with Rev. Kevin Eley and Rev. John Thornes officiating.
Interment will be held at Bunting Cemetery Chincoteague, VA.
