Helen May Hudson passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Long Community, surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 8, 1923, in Winterstown, PA, to the late William E. and Mary E. (Hartwick) Torbert and stepdaughter to the late Walter and Hattie Ludwig. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Lloyd Robert Hudson.
Helen was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, often making matching outfits for herself and her daughters. As a lifelong Lutheran, her church life was very important to her, volunteering regularly and teaching Sunday School. Helen enjoyed being a long-term member of The Farm Women’s Society. Living through the depression taught her to be frugal in all aspects of her life, which she passed on to her children. One of her finest qualities was putting others before herself, and she was sure to keep everyone well fed.
Helen will be missed by her children, Stephen Rohrbaugh (Marilyn), Kay Rohrbaugh Gelletly (Theodore), and Mary Hudson Papadoplos (Louis); grandchildren Stephen (Tiffany), Jack, Theodore “Jay”, Arin (Kelly), Alex (Hynda), Nikki (Mike), Katherine, Tabitha (Ray), and Christina (Kevin); great-grandchildren Alexander, Alexandra, Harrison, Gavin, Caleb, Bruce, Samantha, and Leesha.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Robert Hudson and Gordon Eugene Rohrbaugh; son Mark Robert Hudson; sisters Olive Frey, Janet Gohn, Thelma Stump, Nellie Torbert; and her favorite cat, Tiger.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 3 pm at Charles F Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz. Guests will be received prior to the service starting at 2 pm. Helen will be laid to rest on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Downing Cemetery in Oak Hall, Virginia, alongside her husband Bob.
