Horace Albert Storm

Horace Albert Storm, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 12, 2024, at his home on Chincoteague Island, VA.
He was born in East Stroudsburg, PA, on Dec 14, 1947, to the late Albert & Leona (Fish) Storm. His brother, Robert Storm, preceded him in death, and his sister, Marge (Storm) Smith, resides in Cresco, PA.
Upon graduation from Pocono Mountain High School, Horace enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served proudly for eight years as a Seabee.
Horace is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara (Janson) Storm, two children, a daughter, Valerie Binder, wife of Michael Binder of Greenbackville, VA, and a son, Chad Storm of Las Vegas, NV. Horace was also very proud of his two grandsons, Lucas Perrin of Cape Coral, FL and Austin Perrin of Onancock, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Milton Storm, mother, Leona Marie Storm, and brother, Robert (Bob) Storm, of Brunswick, GA.
Horace was a man of service, serving his country in the U.S. Navy, and upon leaving the Navy, he moved back home to the Poconos, working for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked his way up to the position of Chief Deputy Sheriff. Upon leaving the Sheriff’s Office, he worked for the Pocono Township Police Department until he moved to Virginia, where he worked at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility as a Security Officer until he retired. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter and volunteered as an EMT for the Pocono Township Ambulance.
Horace enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fly fishing, and being with his family. He was also known for his participation in various shooting competitions and was particularly proud of his accomplishments while participating in Cowboy Shooting competitions. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Monroe County, PA.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at the Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. on Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2:00 pm.
