Irene Annis Timmons, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away suddenly on April 26th 2022 at her residence.
Born on April 17th 1937 to the late Herman and Della (Young) Annis, Irene had just celebrated a milestone birthday turning 85 years old spending it with the people she loved the most, her family.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Daughters of Ruth Sunday School Class and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #62. Irene started her career as a secretary for the Chincoteague Elementary School and later owned and operated Regina’s Dress Shop on Main St. and then finished up her career as a successful realtor with Eastern Shore Properties making people’s dreams come true for over 34 years.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Two things that brought her great joy was her family and shopping, and she took both very seriously!
Irene is survived by her two sons; Jimmy Hickman and his wife Lori of Carrollton, VA and Brent Hickman and his wife DeAnna of Atlantic, VA. Four grandsons; Michael Hickman and his wife Nina of Savannah, GA; William Hickman and his girlfriend Cana Lankford of North Ridge, OH; Trevor Hickman and his wife Leighann of Yorktown, VA and Will Hickman of Atlantic, VA., one granddaughter; Cassie Rivera and her husband Alex of Richland, NC. Plus, four great-grandchildren; Irene is also survived by her brother Kenny Annis and his wife Carolyn of Parksley, VA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Hickman and her second husband, Bill Timmons as well as three siblings, Roy Annis, JoAnn McComb and Faye Lewis.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 1st 2022 at 2:00pm in the Redmen Cemetery, Taylor St. Chincoteague Island, VA with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
