James Elwood Beauchamp Jr., age 79, was born on December 15, 1946, and passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at the home of his loving daughter, surrounded by family. He was a longtime resident of Delmar, Delaware, and Chincoteague, Virginia, places he proudly called home.
James was the devoted husband of Gail Ann Beauchamp, his wife of 59 years, and a loving father to James Beauchamp III, Michael Beauchamp, and Mechell Ray. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a great source of joy in his life. He is also survived by his siblings Dorothy, Bunky, Mary, Janet, and George.
Throughout his working life, James was known as a skilled electrician and later a salesman, roles that reflected his strong work ethic, practical skills, and natural ability to connect with people. A true friend to all, James valued hard work and honesty and was generous with his time, always willing to help others—especially when something needed fixing. He especially enjoyed yard saleing and visiting flea markets every weekend, a pastime he truly loved.
James’s faith and love for God were central to his life and guided the way he served others. He was deeply involved in his church community over the years, serving faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, trustee, and through bus ministry. He also found great joy in singing in the men’s choir, using his voice to praise God and fellowship with others.
James Elwood Beauchamp Jr. will be remembered for his kindness, servant’s heart, steady presence, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the example of service and devotion he set.
