Jay Southall was born on October 4th, 1954, at the US Navy Infirmary, N.A.A.S., on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. Jay was a great Christian man. He loved the Lord his God, his wife of 50 1/2 years, Ammie, his daughter Samantha Haddy, son-in-law David Haddy, his two granddaughters, Dakota Lee Haddy and August Marie Haddy, his mother-in-law Louise Bowden, his family, church, and friends. He was a great husband to Ammie, and they endured 50 1/2 years of marriage with their love for each other.
He loved classic cars and enjoyed entering car shows with his buddies. He loved winning trophies and would proudly send his daughter photos of himself with them after each car show. He started joking about needing a new shed to put them all in.
Special thanks to all of the family and friends who have expressed their condolences or brought food to the house. Your kindness has not gone unnoticed, and it is apparent that he was a well-loved man.
There will be a funeral service at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., on Chincoteague Island, VA.
