Born and raised on Chincoteague Island, VA, Jerry Justin Taylor, passed from this life into the next on October 11, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, where he had lived for 10 years. Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps for 12 years and in the United States Navy for 4 years. Upon his return to Chincoteague, Jerry volunteered with the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company and with Shore Care Medical Transport as a Cardiac Tech.
Jerry leaves behind his loving family: a brother, Gary Lee Taylor and his wife, Dee Gazda Taylor of Chincoteague; a sister, Vivian Taylor Bradds of Chincoteague, her son, Joshua Edward Barrett, his wife, Melissa Wimbrow Barrett, and their children, Kyle Gage Barrett, Skylynn Rayn Barrett, Dazey Star Barrett, and Ava Irie Barrett of Greenbackville, VA.; and her daughter, Rita Joy Barrett Bloxom, her husband, Paul David Bloxom Jr., and their son, Paul David Bloxom, III of Chincoteague, VA.; a niece, Allie Ann Barrett, of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Amy Taylor Carter, her husband, William D. Carter, III, of Chesapeake, VA, and their son, William D. Carter, IV , of Roanoke, VA., and his uncle, Michael Wayne Taylor, his wife, Jackie Hastings Taylor, of Dover, DE, and his son, Shaun Michael Taylor, his wife, Jennifer Knoblauch Taylor, and their children Alexia Nicole Taylor and Desiree Elizabeth Taylor of Wilmington, DE, as well as many dear friends including Betty Eiss Taylor, Michael and Lorie Terry, Chessie Rhodes and Buddy Coontz.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard Arlen Taylor, 1982; his nephew, Elijha Bass Barrett, 2001; his mother, Cynthia Mae Marshall Taylor, 2004; his brother, Rick Arlen Taylor, 2008, and his great friend, Phillip Lucich, 2006.
In lieu of floral tributes the family request donations be made in Jerry's honor to the veteran's organization of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at Salyer's Funeral Home in Chincoteague, VA on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2 PM.
