John "Jack" Herbert Marshall

John (Jack) Herbert Marshall, 81, of Salisbury, MD passed away at Tidal Health Hospital on February 20, 2023.
He was born on August 17, 1941, to the late William and Myrtle (Holloway) Marshall in Greenbackville, VA.
He was a son of a waterman. Growing up Jack spent his time playing baseball, working on his dad’s boat, and raising squirrels back to health. He would do odd jobs for neighbors so he had some money for candy. 
At the age of 17, he started his 34-year career at Outten Brothers of Salisbury.  He went from dusting furniture to delivery boy, and finally to store manager.  
In 1966 he married his loving wife of 56 years Cheryl (Brasure).  They had four children together Tammy, Melissa, Jonathan, and Todd.  
Jack enjoyed fishing, duckpin bowling, and umpiring baseball games in his younger days.  He loved to take drives to the water as often as he could.  Enjoyed watching his children’s sports teams, and watching the Baltimore Orioles. 
Jack was known for rescuing as many animals as he could, many becoming family pets over the years.  He selflessly helped others as much as he could throughout his life.  
Along with his wife, Jack is survived by his children, Tammy (Chip) Bozman, Melissa (Tracy) Gibb, Jonathan Marshall, and Todd Marshall, 12 grandchildren; Lori (Allan) White, Christopher Gibb, Steven (Rose) Gibb, Amanda Bozman, Kayleigh Bozman, Adam Horner, Alexis (John) Tripp, Ashleigh Marshall, Rebekah Marshall, Nathaniel Marshall, Timothy Marshall, and William Marshall; 7 Great Grandchildren; Gavin White, Kierstin White, Ethan White, Melanie Gibb, Lily Taylor, Landon Gibb, and Sophia Gibb. Siblings; Esther Outten, Sandra Walker, and Gary (Ginger) Marshall; several nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his Father, William H. Marshall, Mother, Myrtle Virginia Marshall, Brothers, Robert, Richard, Howard, and William Marshall. Grandchildren, Tracy Allan Gibb III, and Mathew Marshall. 
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2023, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Salyer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Chincoteague Island, VA.
 Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague, VA, with Rev. Maurice Enright, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Greenbackville Cemetery.
