Joseph E. Robbins departed this life January 12, 2011. He was the son of the late Rosa and Oliver Robbins. Joe was a W.W.II Army veteran, Boy Scout leader, member of the Del-Mar-VA Boy Scout Council, and a founding member and treasurer of the Little League of Onancock. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Eastern Shore Community College. Joe retired from NASA after 39 years and began the litter clean-up program for Accomack County. He was a member of the Scotish Rites of Free Masonary Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church. Joe was predeceased by wives Pauline S. Robbins and Jean E. Robbins and daughter Linda R. Eller.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca R. Schmidt (Bill) of Hampton, VA, Timothy J. Robbins (Jess) of Melfa, VA, Millie R. Taylor (Earl) of Creedmoor, NC; son-in-law Jerry L. Eller (Fay) of Melfa, VA; six grandchildren, Lance Eller (Carlene) of Onley, Va, Susan Eller-Smith (David) of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Toni Schmidt (Tim) of Hampton, VA, Brent Schmidt of Hampton, VA, Logan Robbins of Fredericksburg, VA; and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday January 16th, 2011 at 2 PM, Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church, 89 Market Street, Onancock, VA with the Rev. Robert Colse officiating.
