Kathryn T. Tolbert

Kathryn T. Tolbert, 84, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away on June 21, 2019 at the Harrison House of Snow Hill, MD.

She was born on Chincoteague Island, VA on August 19, 1934 to the late Samuel and Atlanta (Jones) Taylor.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women, Church Council, Methodist Youth Groups, head of children's choir, taught the youth Sunday School classes, and Accomack Chapter #62 Order of Eastern Star. She and her husband ran the Chincoteague Food Pantry on Chincoteague for many years. She was a honorary member of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company where she sold tickets in the ticket booth for many years.

Kathryn is survived by her two daughters, Susan K. Rodgers of Chincoteague Island, VA, Phyllis Cox of New Church, VA; two grandsons, Brian Hansen and his wife Stephanie of New Church, VA, Eric Olson of PA; granddaughter, Ashley DeMarr and her husband Derek of Snow Hill, MD; three great grandsons, Cody Hansen of New Church, VA, Brody Stevenson of Snow Hill, MD, Caleb DeMarr of Snow Hill, MD; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Wayne R. Tolbert,.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 24, 2019, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague Island, VA and a Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:30 pm that night.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, 2:00 pm at the Christ United Methodist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, with Pastor Joe Carson, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Downing Cemetery in Oak Hall, VA.
