Kenneth "Snowbird" Wayne Butler

Kenneth Wayne Butler, 75, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away on  March 3, 2023, at his residence.   
He was born on Wallops Island, VA on January 21, 1948, to the late Rupert Lee and Norma (Hancock) Butler.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church.  He was one of the first surfers on Chincoteague and took Sprong under his wing.
  Kenneth is survived by his three children  Eric Butler of RI, Denise Peterson of RI, and Chris Butler of NC; two sisters, Ruthie Grundman and her husband Bruce of Neenah, WI. Lynn Matthews and her husband Donnie of Chincoteague Island, VA; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Donna Silvia of Somerset, MA; best friend Jerry Dean of GA; several nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Cheryl Silvia Butler.  
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague, VA, with Rev. Kevin Eley, officiating.
