LAURA WATSON Obituary

Laura Virginia Watson, also known as “Peggy”, of New Church, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at her residence on January 1st, 2022, at the age of 87. 

She was born in Snow Hill, MD on January 27th, 1934, to the late Theodore and Ruth (Hepler) Vess.

 Other than her family, Peggy had several loves in her life, most of which included children.  She was a Girl Scout Leader, School Bus Driver and volunteered at the Union Baptist Church Nursery caring for the smallest of souls.  She was employed at various jobs over the years including the Accomack County School System, Corner Mart and was the Manager of Dollar General on Chincoteague.  Peggy was also a member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company where she served as secretary, and you could always find her in the funnel cake stand every summer delighting carnival goers for years.

 Peggy is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Birch and her husband Bobby and Lenora Dorsey and her husband Donnie, all of New Church, VA and one grandson, Joshua Birch of Assawoman, VA.

 Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Donald “Frog” Watson.

 Services will be held at a later date.
