Lisa Ray (Davis) Kambarn

With heavy hearts, but rejoicing in the promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Lisa Ray Davis Kambarn, 56, of Chincoteague, VA, on July 6, 2026.  She was surrounded by family and friends. 

Born August 8, 1969, to Charles Ray Davis and Sandra Johansen Davis, Lisa lived life defined by her unwavering faith and boundless love for her family. She is survived by her loving Valentine, William Kambarn, of 33 years; son Charles Joseph (Joe) Kambarn (Ashley); daughter Abigail (Abby) Kambarn; granddaughters Eliza Jo and Macie Clare Kambarn; brother Daniel (Dan) Davis (Abby), and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Lisa was a long-time member of Chincoteague Christ United Methodist Church, where she faithfully served her community. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and in the weekly bible study group. Her life was a living testimony of Psalm 23. Her gifts of time included volunteering at the Chincoteague carnival with the children’s games, at the Methodist church, serving at the American Legion, and, most of all, being a loving Grammy. Lisa loved arts and crafts and always had a project to celebrate the season.

She was born in Washington, DC, and came to the island as a child. Her fondest childhood memories were of going on trips with her dad. She enjoyed being on the water with her parents, water-skiing, and many other adventures. Lisa graduated from Chincoteague High School in 1987. She worked at the Navy galley. Later in life, she worked at Holly Grove Christian School and loved serving chicken on Tuesdays. 

Lisa met William at 16, and she became smitten with him from the start. Lisa loved riding on the back of William’s Harley. Her world revolved around Joe, Abby, William, and the grandkids, complemented by a host of loving friends and family. Her greatest job and achievement was raising her youngin’s.

Lisa was a very loyal and fierce friend to many and spread her love and passion for life. Throughout this difficult health journey, Lisa’s joy never left her. She loved doing at least one fun thing each day, and she regularly organized unique outings that were focused on fun, friendship, laughter, love, and generally an adventure doing something nobody had done before, or going to some place new. She was known for her love of all things flamingo, a reflection of her vibrant, joyful personality.

Lisa was not afraid to live life to the fullest and loved having others join her in these adventures. She will be remembered for her sharp and witty sense of humor. Her unwavering faith in God was the foundation of her life, and she freely shared that faith through kindness, compassion, and love for others. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Christ United Methodist Church on Chincoteague Island, VA, with Rev. Jon Woodburn officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 6-8 pm at Salyer Funeral Home on Chincoteague Island, VA. Services entrusted to Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., on Chincoteague Island, VA
