Mrs. Mabel Liscum, 96, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away Thursday, August 12th, 2010 at her residence.
Mabel was born in Chincoteague, Virginia on September 19, 1913, the daughter of the late John and Hattie (Fletcher) Tarr.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, John Leonard Sunday School Class, and Accomack Chapter #62 Order of Eastern Star . She was the choir leader and Sunday school teacher for many years at Christ United Methodist Church and a school substitute for over twenty years. She was very active in church and doing plays also.
She was the widow of Emerson E. Liscum.
She is survived by her son Emerson S. Liscum and his wife Esther of Chincoteague, VA; three grandsons Steven Liscum and his wife Allison of Gastonia, NC, Brian Yoder and his wife Lisa of Seaford, DE, John Yoder and his wife Kelly of Bridgeville, DE; two step grandchildren Jordan and Devon Self of Georgia; four great grandchildren, Nathan and Noel Liscum of Gastonia, NC, Erica and Spencer Yoder of Seaford, DE; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Ina Mae Yoder.
Friends are invited to call Saturday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. and an Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:30 PM.
Funeral Service at Christ United Methodist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Sunday, August 15th, with Pastor Steven Liscum and Rev. Travis DeLoach officiating.
Interment will be held at John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery Temperanceville, VA.
