Margo DiBetta Obituary

Margo DiBetta, 86, passed away on September 11, 2024, at her home in Captain’s Cove, Greenbackville, VA. Born on March 22, 1938, in Bamberg, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Hans and Margareta Bauer. She is also predeceased by her brother, Artur, and her sister, Johanna. Margo left Germany at age seventeen to join her sister, who was already living in the United States.

While Margo was truly a strong woman with fierce determination and strength, she was also incredibly generous.  Widowed at age 29 with five children, she worked multiple jobs, providing a good home, sacrificing, and making the tough decisions so that her family would have every opportunity for success.  She raised her family on Long Island, settling in Holbrook, NY, where she was a successful Supervisor at the Nature’s Bounty Vitamin Company.

Margo retired after many years of employment and ultimately settled in Captain’s Cove, Greenbackville, Virginia.  Margo did not struggle for long for what to do with the free time that comes with retirement.  She made friends quickly through yoga, volunteering with various Cove committees, bowling, and visiting the library. Her retirement was full of exciting new beginnings, including hosting weekly card games!

Everyone was always welcomed in her home and once you were there, she couldn’t do enough for you.  After providing a five-course holiday meal (any day of the year), she was quick to offer you another drink, snack or something to take home.  She made friends easily, loved visitors, and they loved her.

Margo loved seeing her grandchildren, and they always looked forward to spending time with her.  They never left without a gift, a memento, or a little extra money in their pockets.

Margo is survived by her children, Kevin, Cynthia, David (Judy), Ron (Sue), and Debby (Michael). She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her seven grandchildren and the many friends she made along her journey.  Services entrusted to Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. on Chincoteague Island, VA.
