Marsha Helen Hopkins-Cook/Mazchowski, 74 of Long Island, NY, and a 37-year resident of Chincoteague Island, VA, passed away suddenly on October 9, 2025. She was born in Glen Cove, NY, on May 11, 1951, to the late Richard and Helen Mazuchowski.
Marsha was in the hospitality business and retired in the early ’90s to become a wife/entrepreneur. She loved her Art! “ART IS IN THE HEART.” This was her passion; she stayed busy with her crafts, QVC, and her Fur Baby Penny. Marsha will be forever missed!
Growing up on Long Island, NY, as a young lady, she was quiet and a little shy. She loved to be by herself, do pencil art, and she doodled a lot. Growing up, she had The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and a bunch of other posters. She loved her record player, magazines, and comic books. As she grew up, she found herself married and having two children. While Marsha raised her children as a single mother there was nothing stopping her from making sure they had the best life she could provide until she met her soulmate, late husband, Gregory Hillman Hopkins, they met due to his career as a truck driver and would visit her work place when in town, as he courted her for years, some time later Greg popped the question. The move to Chincoteague, VA was planned after many years of trips/vacations, and a new family merged with Marsha’s family. The wedding was on October 15, 1994 - 32 years of marriage. Marsha loved with all her heart. She went on to have a great life, watching what she started blossom into a wonderful family and watching her grandchildren grow up.
Marsha is survived by her loving fur baby Penny; her daughter Tina Nicole Cook, her son; Richard Curtis Cook, sisters Donna, Wanda, Lisa and Patty; grandchildren; Nicole, Dakota, Emma, Shawna, Jeffery, Gregory, Caroline, Katie and Beni; great-grandchildren; Little Gregory and Baby Luci; nieces and nephews; Breanna, Deanna, Magen,(Aria/Ethan), Elizabeth, Christina, Ashley and their Father Ray-Ray, great-nephew; Cooper, also Kevin and Sara and Rebecca, she was proceeded in death by her husband Gregory Hopkins her parents Richard Mazuchowski and Helen Jones, her daughter Michelle Hopkins; niece Cariann Tracy; and great-granddaughter, Elaine Michelle Hopkins.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Salyer Funeral Home on Chincoteague Island, VA, with lunch to follow at a local restaurant (TBD).
