Mary Ann Matthews

Mary Ann Matthews, age 79, of Assawoman, VA, passed away on November 13, 2024, after a long and courageous 27-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.  She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Brooks Matthews Sr.

Born on April 9th, 1945, Mary Ann was a vibrant soul who danced through life with grace and joy. She came to the Shore for her Senior Trip and not only fell in love with the place but also fell in love with and married her husband Gerald Brooks Matthews of Assawoman, Va.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves a legacy of stories and memories to her sons Gerald Brooks Matthews Jr and Christopher Glenn Matthews.
She was survived by three grandchildren, Savannah, Aria, and Liam Matthews, her brother-in-law and his wife, Glenn, and Judy Matthews, numerous nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends!

Despite her battle with Multiple Sclerosis, she never let it dampen her spirits. Her strength of will and boundless courage inspired everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and warmth that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her.
Her family and friends will cherish her memory and all those whose lives she touched.
