On Sunday, December 4, 2011 we lost our son, brother, and good friend Michael Thomas Melvin, 36 of Chincoteague, Virginia. He was born on April 27, 1975 in Nassawadox, VA and is the son of Bill and Linda Melvin also of Chincoteague. Mike was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and nephew to all his extended family and a trusted friend to many. Mike loved many things in life including music, painting, drawing, and all of nature and the outdoors. Mike was quite an accomplished musician and artist, he enjoyed the hobby of metal detecting, but mostly he loved spending time with his family and friends. Mike was a gentle and caring young man who was full of love and compassion for everyone he met and he will sorely be missed by all. Mike is survived by an extended family on Chincoteague including his mother and father Bill and Linda Melvin, his sister Lisa Hickman, and three brothers Melvin Conser, Larry Conser, and Billy Melvin. He also has a sister Connie Miller of Pasadena, MD. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including David Spidel, Alyssa and Alyson Hickman, Chris Conser, Trae, Gage, and Sylas Tarr, and Ellie Conser of Chincoteague and Emily Miller of Pasadena, MD. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 8th, at 2:00 pm at the Church of God on Chincoteague.
