Mildred F. Kristoff DeFrancesco Secreet departed this life on February 26, 2010. Born August 25, 1922 in Gladden, PA as the youngest daughter of Joseph and Florence Kristoff, "Millie" was a resident of the Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke City, MD and formerly a resident of Cecil Township, PA. She was preceded in death by a husband, Ottavio DeFrancesco, in 1964, her husband John Secreet in 2007 and her son, Travis Defrancesco, in 2000. Millie is survived by her daughter, Tama Ward and Tama's husband Chuck of Chincoteague Island, VA, a grandson, Travis John DeFrancesco, a brother, Eddie Kristoff, her beloved sisters-in-law Katie Turkaly, Frannie Armstrong and Virginia Kristoff as well as many nieces and nephews.
Millie will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, wife and friend. A member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, she also cherished her "Every Other Wednesday Club" friends and carried with her many fond memories of them. She was proud of her service to her country, having served as a civilian machine operator during World War II. Millie enjoyed travelling abroad and the vivid recollections of those travels brought much joy to her. She had recently relocated to Chincoteague Island, VA in 2008.
Her selflessness and dedication to her immediate and extended family was evident throughout her life. A fond remembrance of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday March 4, 2010 at Salyer's Funeral Home, 6237 Church Street, Chincoteague Island, VA. Interment will be held at the Daisey Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7-9 pm at Salyers Funeral Home.
