Mr. Myron F. (Dixie) Birch, 81, of Chincoteague Island. VA, passed away at 7:25 PM, Thursday, March 12th, 2009 while in the company of family members at his residence.
Myron was born in Chincoteague, Virginia on January 2, 1928, the son of the late Neal and Mattie (Hopkins) Birch.
He worked as a Real Estate Agent at Coastal Realty Chincoteague, VA 23336.,
He graduated from Chincoteague High School. He retired from the USCG. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Anglers Sunday School Class, Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, BZA for the Town of Chincoteague, VAR, ESAR, NAR, Treasurer for Kiwanis Club, Accomack Lodge #243, Past District Deputy Grand Master,Scotish Rites, York Rites, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 62. He was a charter member of Royal Arch #75 and Island Commandery #34. Hewas one of the lead members of the McDonald's Breakfast Club.
He is survived by a wife Frances S. Birch of Chincoteague, VA.; Sister-In-Law Clara Kellenberger of Chincoteague, VA. and several loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Sunday, March 15th, with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
Friends are invited to call Saturday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc.
An Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge Service will be held at 7:30 PM Saturday at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment at John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperenceville, VA.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Eastern Shore 165 Market Street Onancock, VA 23417.
