Nancy Carolyn Rosenberger,86, of Chincoteague Island, Va., passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024. She was born on November 9, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nancy is survived by her loving and Devoted Husband of 67 years, Raymond Richard Rosenberger Sr; her children Raymond, Donna, Carol, and Linda. She is also survived by her 6 Grandchildren, Victoria, Kurt, Michael, Ashley, Ethan, Ryan, and her great-grandson Cody. In addition, she leaves behind her Twin sister, Margaret Swartz, and other family and loved ones.
Nancy was devoted to her Family and community. She supported youth organizations such as Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of America. She was an Active Girl Scout leader for girls of every age, a trainer for adult scout leaders. She received “The Chapel of Four Chaplains” award for her commitment to others in support of scouting regardless of race or faith in the greater Philadelphia area. She volunteered supporting her church youth group, Women's Bible Study and various outreach programs for families in need for many years.
She prepared & delivered meals supporting neighbors and those in need with food & comfort. She relocated to Chincoteague in 1994, where she continued her care and support of others by planting & tending large community vegetable gardens to supplement the local food bank, fundraising, and teaching students & young adults from area schools how to plant and maintain the gardens that produced hundreds of pounds of fresh food for others. Every year, she had fundraisers to collect funds for the “Hunters for the Hungry” organization to help provide meat for the local food bank. She continued to cook and bake for neighbors and friends whenever the need arose for either support or ease.
Nancy was artistic and creative and enjoyed crafty endeavors of all kinds. She loved to travel, camping, reading, and sharing these interests with others. One of her favorite places was spending time on Assateague enjoying the beach, flying a kite and the wildlife. She freely shared her Time, Gifts, and Talents with others and taught her Children & Grandchildren to do the same in service to others. She will be greatly missed but always remembered.
A Memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date
