Mrs. Nellie W. Barrett, 87, of Chincoteague Island, VA. passed away Friday, April 2nd, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, MD.
Nellie was born in Chincoteague, Virginia on December 31, 1922, the daughter of the late Olin and Linda (Jones) Williams.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church on Chincoteague, where she retired as secretary after 25 years. She served as teacher of Rainbow Sisters Sunday School and the youth girls Sunday school. She was also a member of Accomack Chapter #62 Order of Eastern Star.
She was the widow of Kenneth Barrett.
She is survived by two daughters; Bonnie B. Jones and her husband Dickie of Chincoteague, VA, Linda Hudson of Chincoteague, VA, two sons; Wade Barrett and his wife Betty of Chincoteague, VA, Icard Barrett of Bloxom, VA, Nine Grandchildren; Kathy Swartz and her husband Bill of Severna Park, MD. Kendra Tucker and her husband Will of Chincoteague, VA, John Hudson of Chincoteague, VA, Jenny Savage of Chincoteague, VA, Zach Barrett and his wife Lori of Wattsville, VA, Becky Streets and husband Jon of Virginia Beach, Va, Tyler Barrett of Parksley, VA, Mary Esther Montresor of Chincoteague, Va and Jennifer Jones and Larry of New York, NY, fourteen great grandchildren, two sisters Anna Belle Bradford of Chincoteague, VA, Alice Bernstein and her husband Daivd of Salisbury, MD, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call Monday 1-2 PM. at Union Baptist Church in Chincoteague, VA.
Funeral Service at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Monday, April 5th, with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
Interment at Thornton Cemetery Chincoteague Island, VA.
