Mr. Paul Leonard Snead, 85, of Chincoteague Island, VA. passed away Sunday, January 9th, 2011 at his residence.
Paul was born in Chincoteague, Virginia on August 21, 1925, the son of the late Charles E. and Fannie R. (Jester) Snead.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church Chincoteague, VA, Pals Sunday School Class,and Gideons International. He was a part of the Chincoteague Jail Ministry for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing his trumpet and harmonica in various churches. After retirement, he also ejoyed making oyster shells out of wood with scripture on them that he distributed while witnessing for his Lord. He also served as the chairman for the Chincoteague Carnival Bible distribution for the Gideons for several years.
He retired from NASA as a Facility Management Specialist at Wallops Island, VA.,
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlotte Snead of Chincoteague, VA; his first class number one buddy of over 80 years, Robert Birch of Greenbackville, VA; two sons David and Tim; one daughter Marian; several grand and great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents he is also predeceased by two brothers Newman E. and Paul O. Snead and two nieces Nina Loy Matthews and Crystal Kelley.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc.
Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Thursday, January 13th, with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
Interment will be held at Downing Cemetery, Oak Hall, VA.
