Raymond H. Carpenter, 89 of Chincoteague Island, VA went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 16th, at his residence.
Raymond was born in Chincoteague, Virginia on February 19, 1922, the son of the late Bertie (Hancock) and Clarence Carpenter.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Anglers Sunday School Class, and Accomack Lodge # 243 of Chincoteague Island, VA .
He was the owner of Raymond Carpenter Store located on Chincoteague Island, Va and later was a dispatcher for NASA. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II in the Pacific.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Charlotte (Russell) Carpenter of Chincoteague Island, VA; two daughters, Jeanne Rae Johnson of Chincoteague Island, VA, Betty Jane Barrett and her husband Wade of Chincoteague Island, VA; three grandchildren, Raymond Johnson and his wife Tamaria of New Church, VA, Jenny Barrett Ward and her husband Tommy of Pocomoke City, MD, Zachary Barrett and his wife Lori of Wallops Island, VA; seven great grandchildren, Elyjah and Kaleb Johnson, Hayley and Kyndall Savage, Kaylynne Napoleone, and Noel and Jackson Barrett; several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call Saturday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc.
Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Sunday, February 19th, with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
Interment will be held at Daisey Cemetery Church St. Chincoteague Island, VA.
