Richard “Rick” William Watson, 69, of Atlantic, VA passed away on November 22nd 2021 surrounded by his loving, devoted family.
He was born along with his twin brother on January 28th 1952 at the Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA to William Herbert Watson and the late Matilda Ann (Linton) Watson.
Rick is survived by the love of his life of 49 years, Cristy (Moyer) Watson; his two sons, Richie and Bradley Watson and Bradley’s wife, Shanna, all of Atlantic, VA; grandchildren, Austin, Brad, Braden, Lola, William, Waylon, Easton and Carver; his twin brother Herby and his wife, Susan, of Pocomoke City, MD and his younger brother Jeff and his wife, Debbie, of Atlantic, VA; and several nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews.
He was a 1970 graduate of Atlantic (Arcadia) High School in Oak Hall, VA and a 1972 graduate Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC.
Rick was a dedicated member of the Atlantic Baptist Church and the Atlantic District Ruritan Club. Two of Rick’s greatest passions in life besides his family was his love of decoys and boating. The waters of the Shore were one of his favorite places to be.
He established Watson Gas in 1999 and it quickly grew into a thriving family business and he was so proud to work with his family on a daily basis. He was a devoted family man, devoted friend and devoted member of his community. He was a kind and generous man and always met others with his friendly smile. Spending time with his family and friends were his greatest joy. His presence will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27th, 2021 from 7-9pm at the Salyer Funeral Home, Inc on Chincoteague Island and a graveside service will follow on Sunday, November 28th 2021 at 2:00pm at the John W. Taylor Cemetery in Temperanceville, VA with Rev. Maurice Enright officiating.
