Robert Watson Obituary

Robert Louis Watson, 79 of New Church, VA formerly of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away Saturday, April 21st, at his residence.
Robert was born in Chincoteague, Virginia on March 14, 1933, a son of the late Mary (Bunting) and Arthur Watson.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church and Anglers Sunday School Class on Chincoteague Island, VA. He served in the music ministry for over 45 years at the Union Baptist Church and Christ United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years. He retired as a Weather Tech at NOAA. He was also a member of Accomack Lodge # 243, Accomack Chapter #62 Order of Eastern Star where he was pianist, and Temperanceville #88 Order of Eastern Star. He played music for Salyer Funeral Home for over 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Powell Watson of New Church, VA; three children, Roberta Duffee and her husband Sam of New Church, VA, David Watson and his wife Carol of Asheville, NC, Kathleen Mears of Chincoteague Island, VA; nine grandchildren, Paula Henson, Jonathan Beasley, Bill Andrews, Laina Duffee, Kammie Mackewich, Katie Jackson, Jewel Watson, Robbie Mears, Randy Mears; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Darrell Watson and his wife Jerry of GA; sister, Helen Capps of FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday 7-9 PM. at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. in Chincoteague Island, VA with a Masonic Lodge Service and Eastern Star Service at 7:30 PM.
Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, at 2 PM on Wednesday, April 25th, with Rev. Kevin Eley and Rev. Allen Hopkins officiating and music by Terri Mears and Rev. William L. Gregory.
