Robert "Mr. Bobby" Joseph Watson

Robert Joseph Watson, known also to many as “Mr. Bobby”, passed into the arms of Jesus on July 10, 2023.

Robert was born on July 31, 1944, to the late Thurlow Elmer Watson and Anita Ruth Watson.

Robert worked for Moore Business Forms for 28 years and then for the Town of Chincoteague in Public Works and as head of Mosquito Control.  In addition to working for the Town, he also helped his late wife, Miss Diane with her Nursery School and Children’s Choir where he was known to many as “Mr. Bobby”, and their plant business “The Flower Pot”.  

Robert is survived by his daughters, Anita Melissa Watson, Roxanne Thornton Bowman, and husband Skip; sons John Neal Thornton and Donnie Ray Thornton.  Two Granddaughters, Dana Brooke Judge, Tara Bowman Mather, and husband Ben, and one Great-Grandson, William Sebastian Mather.

In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Diane Brooke (Reed) Watson, “Miss Diane” and Great-Granddaughter, Sydney A Mather.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at 2 pm at Union Baptist Church on Chincoteague Island, VA, with Rev. Kevin Eley, officiating.
