Teresa McCready Obituary
Teresa Wright McCready, 65, of Wallops Island, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on July 9, 2024. Born on April 23, 1959, in Salisbury, Maryland, she was the daughter of Lewis Wright and the late Harriette Wright. Teresa was a devoted wife to David McCready and a loving mother to daughters Lauren McCormack and Jessica Wainwright. She was also a cherished grandmother to Sawyer and Finley McCormack.
Teresa graduated from Eastern Shore Academy and later attended Salisbury University. For 45 years, she managed Wright's Seafood Restaurant, a family business where her dedication and hard work were evident. Teresa was a pillar of the community and a long-time member of Island Baptist Church, where she served faithfully.
Her hobbies included beekeeping, gardening, caring for her chickens, cooking, and enjoying daily coffee hours with her family. Teresa took immense pleasure in looking after her grandchildren, a role she embraced wholeheartedly.
Teresa is survived by her father, Lewis Wright; her husband, David McCready; her daughters, Lauren McCormack (Ian) and Jessica Wainwright (Brooks); her grandchildren, Sawyer and Finley McCormack; and her siblings, Richard Wright (Linda), Brenda Wright, Chris Wright (Tracy), and Eric Wright (Amy). She was preceded in death by her mother, Harriette Wright.
A service to celebrate Teresa's life will be held at Island Baptist Church on Friday, July 12th, at 2:00 pm. Salyer Funeral Home in Chincoteague, VA, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Teresa will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her strong work ethic, and her generous spirit. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
