Thomas Decatur Rhodes

Thomas Decatur Rhodes, 62, of Chincoteague Island, VA passed away on March 14, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Salisbury, MD on April 9, 1955 to the late Carl Rhodes and Vivian Daisey.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge #243 and American Legion Post #159. He was a past member of Chincoteague VFW. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a retired Fire Medic from Chincoteague Island EMS. He was a former licensed Merchant Marine Captain and Engineer.

Thomas is survived by his wife of eight years, Loretta Rhodes of Hallwood, VA: two daughters, Leigha Rhodes Hamilton and her husband Anthony of Chincoteague Island, VA, Katie Rhodes Fitzgerald and her husband James of Chincoteague Island, VA; Three Granddaughters, Adriana Joy Rhodes of Chincoteague Island, VA, Vivien Elaine Hamilton of Chincoteague Island, VA, Kassidy Anne Sharpley of Pocomoke City, MD; Two Grandsons, Elijah Wayne Sharpley of Chincoteague Island, VA, Nathaniel Joseph Higgins of Chincoteague Island, VA; two step-daughters, Stephanie Selby and her husband Don Evan of Sandown, NH, Laura Christine Conly and her mate Travis Colfrey of Chehalis, WA; step granddaughter, ; three step-granddaughters,Raeven Selby of Sandown, NH, Yvette Selby of Sandown, NH, Millai Colfrey of Chehalis, WA; three step-grandsons, Evan Selby of Sandown, NH, Brody Colfrey of Chehalis, WA, Ollie Colfrey of Chehalis, WA; Brother, Chester Carl Rhodes and his wife Cynda of Chincoteague Island, VA; Sister, Betsy Rhodes Birdsel and her husband Ray of Fort Pierce, FL; step mother, Audrey Rhodes of Chincoteague Island, VA; step-sister, Charlene Daisey of Chincoteague Island, VA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018, 2:00 pm at the Christ Sanctified Holy Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, with Rev. Roy Chandler, officiating.
